DESCRIPTION

The second evening of Letterature is opened by the young philosopher Michela Marzano, currently Professor of Moral Philosophy at La Sorbonne University in Paris, after studying philosophy at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. In 2008, Le Nouvel Observateur named her among the fifty most influential intellectuals in France. Consistent with the theme of the evening, she studies contemporary women's identity issues and female representations in the media and society. She edited the monumental Dictionnaire du corps, whose three hundred dictionary entries have been written by the most influential French intellectuals, and which will soon be published in Italy. Her last book Sii bella e stai zitta will be published in May by Mondadori .

On the same topic, and on the contradictory role of women in Indian society in particular, projected into the future but still keeps links with the past and traditions, the festival will host the Indian writer Anita Nair, who lives in Bangalore. She was working as the creative director of an advertising agency in Bangalore when she wrote her first book, a collection of short stories called Satyr of the Subway. In 2000 she published his first novel, The Better Man. Her second novel Ladies Coupé, published in 2001, became an international success. Neri Pozza published also Mistress, while Donzelli has published her book of fairytales and myths. On May 2010, Guanda will publish her latest book Lessons in Forgetting.

The third speaker of the evening is the French writer Delphine de Vigan, author of three novels that have been praised in her country. No et moi, which won the Rotary International prize and the Prix des Libraires 2008, was translated into twenty languages and it is being adapted for the cinema. In Italy her works are published by Mondadori, including her last novel Les Heures souterraines (May 2010).
